Infrastructure
Infrastructural Facilities of the College
The College continuously strives to create and provide suitable infrastructure to its students and staff. The major hindrance of the College for infrastructural development was paucity of land that has been resolved to a great extent by the donation of land by the New Barrackpur Municipality. Depending upon the students’ strength and considering the funds generated through fees collection every year a budgetary allocation is made for infrastructure improvement. Financial assistance from local MLA and MP are also sought for the infrastructure development. The College also receives financial aid from the UGC and the State Government for the same.
This College, after it was established in 1966, was situated near New Barrackpur station and shared a building with a girls’ school. As classes for the school were held in the morning shift, classes for this College were held in the evening shift up to 2007. The College has traversed a long way since then. In 2007, the College started its classes in its own new building in the day shift. This building initially had two stories. In order to accommodate increasing number of students, second and third floors were constructed in 2014. In 2019, the college building was further extended to provide facilities like multi-gym, canteen and Indoor game rooms for the students and to accommodate the increasing number of students with introduction of new subjects. There are in total 40 classrooms including 5 technology-enabled learning spaces, 3 seminar halls, 4 laboratories and departmental offices. The classrooms are well ventilated and are spacious. The laboratories are well equipped. There are 33 desktop computers and 9 laptops, 4 water purifiers and 3 water-coolers for students and staff. There are separate common rooms for boys and girls with indoor game facilities and television. The College library has abundant number of books and is registered under NLIST. The students, staff and faculty members are provided computing facility through a good number of computers and an equal number of allied accessories and internet connectivity along with the Wi-Fi enabled campus. Students can access free internet from the four desktop computers in the library.
