Department of Geography
Geography is a subject which focuses on curriculum for understanding and resolving about the environment and sustainable development. As, students studying geography, they encounter different physical structure of earth, different societies with their diversified culture and economy. Geography as a subject have the multidisciplinary content from physical, cultural, political, social, economic to the skill based technology like application of GIS & Remote Sensing . Therefore it is a vital subject for 21st century citizens, enabling to face the questions that how the human civilization can live sustainably in earth without hampering the life of other animal being and also mother earth. It also helps us to think critically with the application of critical pedagogy.
Programme Specific Outcomes:
 To understand the general concept about earth science.
 To inspire the students about the natural and human worlds, using different scales of inquiry to view them from different perspectives.
 To understand the nature of geography of past times and how nature has played important roles in the evolution of human civilization. (Geographical Thought)
 To make the students able to analyse the numerical facts with the help of Statistical tools and techniques. It also helps in collecting, presenting and interpreting the data. (Statistical tools and techniques)
 To develop the skills about Remote Sensing which help the students to analyse the remotely sensed data and also inspire them to make the map with the use of software.(Remote Sensing & GIS)
 To make the students much more aware about the contemporary change in earth system and also help them to understand the role of human being in this transformation. (Contemporary Issue and Management)
